About Us

Arlington Montessori School

An AMS education begins with a carefully prepared, classroom environment, focused on the developmental needs and abilities of each age group, and providing a variety of manipulative materials and other invitations for children to explore math, science, language, arts and cultural studies, and physical engagement with the world. Our classrooms nurture our children’s innate love of learning, invite inquiry and exploration, and provide abundant opportunities to engage in meaningful activities. Because the materials can be used in multiple ways, children are inspired to move progressively from the concrete to the abstract as their abilities unfold. Although all AMS programs are carefully constructed based on the child’s developmental stages.

The goal of Arlington Montessori School is to help the child develop to his fullest potential by following the child through observation and helping him direct his own growth spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, and physically, by providing a prepared environment, that is designed to meet the child’s needs.”

Our Philosophy

At the Early Childhood level (ages 3-6) our educational program is based on the premise that young children flourish with gentle guidance and the freedom to work at their own pace. Our rich classroom environments stimulate independent learning activities and our curriculum incorporates pre-reading and math skill development, science activities, geography, and cultural studies, sensory exercises, and art. Children make friends easily and learn how to share and play cooperatively in a safe and secure setting.
